When I hear my daughter say “Mommy, I do it all by myself” (which is currently about 2.7 million times a day) I smile deeply because I relate to the feeling she has of being independent and accomplishing something on her own. But, as I move through life, I find that I have grown to recognize and appreciate the importance of being surrounded by a team of people that are there to help. I often tell my daughter, that yes she can do it all by herself, but I am right here if she needs me. I believe that no matter what our skills are, it is imperative to have the right people in our corner…especially when it comes to something as important as growing our family. When I decided to adopt, I enlisted Becca’s help (you can read my adoption story here). This was a huge step for me. She was such an important part of my team and helped guide me through the process. I was ready to be a mom, but was overwhelmed by all of the information out there. She answered so many questions and provided a clear road map that made things so much easier.
It may sound strange, especially if you are just embarking on this journey, or even if you have been on the journey for a while and it feels overwhelming, but I actually enjoyed the adoption process. Sure, it was stressful, and emotional, and sometimes felt a bit uncertain. But, I have learned that anything worthwhile in life is a little scary. Taking that next step into unfamiliar territory can lead to the most amazing results. And, the process taught me so much about myself and my support system.
Every day, I look at my daughter and am so thankful for the opportunity to be her mom. I am so excited to be able to work with RG Adoption Consulting and have the opportunity to share what I have learned in order to help other families grow through adoption and experience the joy that has filled my life. Most of my career has been in marketing and scheduling of boats and barges that move petroleum products in the Inland Waterways. On the surface, that may not appear to have a whole lot in common with adoption consulting. But, some of the aspects that I have loved the most about that have been building relationships with my clients, problem solving, and navigating challenges. I look forward to applying those same skills in an area that I am very passionate about.
I can’t promise that you won’t experience bumps along the way, but I will be there to provide information and support. Armed with the right knowledge and surrounded by the right people, this journey can be exciting and joyful, and will lead to the most incredible outcome.
I look forward to helping you build your family.

The quote, “life begins when you step out of your comfort zone” is something I hold near and dear to my heart, as I try to live by these words. My favorite thing is to try new things, whether it is a new food or place I have never been. Using this ideology, I decided to apply to be an intern for RG Adoption Consulting, despite knowing little to nothing about adoption. Ironically, a family member had just begun considering adoption and I’m glad that I am now able to gain insight into what they are going through. I am never afraid to test waters, take on challenges, and explore the unknown. For me, this internship is a learning experience and exciting, new prospect in my journey!
I am currently a junior at Loyola University Chicago studying English and Spanish, while pursuing the pre-medicine track. Although the combination seems slightly unorthodox, I am truly passionate about my studies and love having a rounded perspective through my education. Writing creatively is my outlet to express myself, as I write poetry, short stories, and everything in between! I also love the science and medicine aspect of my studies, as I am a very analytical, detail-orientated individual with a lot of compassion. I ultimately hope my future endeavors and career allow me to help those in need.
Thrilled to be joining the RG Adoption Consulting team as an intern, I cannot wait to learn about the ins and outs of adopting and be a part of the path of others creating families!
